Summer Solstice Paddle, June 21

We ushered in the summer with an 8 mile paddle in Good Harbor Bay. This is one of our favorite places to paddle because of the fantastic sunsets and massive sand dunes.  We paddled out 4 miles to an old ship wreck (44° N 85° W) which was more visible than we've ever seen thanks to the complete lack of waves and crystal, clear water. A small fire on the beach, lots of snacks and laughs to spare completed a perfect evening of paddling.

The put-in is at the end of Bohemian Road off of M-22. This is part of the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, so PLEASE purchase a vehicle permit and support this recreational access. Total paddle time to and from ship wreck is about 2 hours and 40 minutes.  This is usually a very windy bay!  Waves can be an issue, so boats 14' and longer are best for this trip.
